Gartner
Prediction:
Gartner Says
Worldwide Platform as a Service Revenue Is on Pace to Reach $1.2 Billion
Worldwide platform as a service
(PaaS) market will experience consistent
growth with worldwide PaaS revenue totaling 1.5 billion in 2013, and growing to
$2.9 billion in 2016, achieving a 26.6% CAGR.
PaaS spending globally is relatively small, almost entirely
generated by the U.S.42 percent of the market, followed by Western Europe and
Mature Asia/Pacific. All mature
economies combined, account for almost 90 percent of worldwide PaaS spending.
SAP Prediction:
Industry-specific PaaS
offerings will continue to emerge in 2013. We've already
witnessed pockets of these, such as the NYSE trading community platform,
Panoptix from Johnson Controls, and BaseSpace platform from Illumina. It is
interesting to note that these offerings are built by industry-specific players
rather than IT vendors. It is expected that the “generic” (horizontal) PaaS
market will become commoditized
Forrestor Prediction:
Charlie
Dai (Principle Consultant) reports a strong growth in this market from
2013 on, to more than $600 million in 2020.
Cordys is mentioned as one of the two
major global PaaS players offering a Foundational PaaS, Application PaaS,
Process PaaS and Integration PaaS for the Chinese market.
Four Categories Of PaaS Products:
Courtsey : Gartner, Forrestor, SAP and Research & Markets
